DESCRIPTION:Dates:  July 1-2\, 2017 \nThe Trip:  We will ride the Palm Springs Tram up to the trail head andbackpack the 2.1miles to the Round Valley Campsite.  After setting up base camp\, we will hike to the San Jacinto Peak.   The next morning\, we will leave base camp and head home.  \nWho Can Go: \nThis trip is for those who have backpacking experience with Troop 355.  The hike into camp is moderate\, but even seasoned hikers will find the peak ascent a challenge!  The hike to the peak is a strenuous 7.4 mile round trip hike.  The peak elevation is 10\,834 feet above sea level. \nLimit:  30 campers \nSign Up and Cost:Cost includes Tramway ticketsPlease send a check for $40 made payable to BSA Troop 355 to: \nMike Giardina930 Afton RoadSan Marino\, CA 91108 \nDUE DATE: Monday June 19th \nMeet:Meet in the Palm Springs Tramway parking lot at 7:00 A.M. Saturday July 1st to divide up the patrol gear and prepare to board the first trams up at 8:00.  We need to arrive early so that we can get the campsites we want and still have time to hike to the peak. We will return Sunday Morning and be home between 12:00 and 2:00 \nFood:Bring  your own Saturday sack lunch\, trail food\, and Sunday AM breakfast (granola bars or oatmeal\, cocoa etc.)  Saturday dinner provided but prepared by crews. \nWeather:Cold at night\, long underwear\, light gloves\, beanie\, fleece jacket and shell jacket. \nDirections to the Tramway Parking Lot:201 East10 EastMerge onto Highway 111 and drive 8.5 miles to Tramway Road	Make a right turn onto Tramway Road and drive 4 miles to the end of the road where you will find the Tramway Parking lot.
