SUMMARY:Salesmanship Merit Badge - Click for Details
DESCRIPTION:Troop 355 is very lucky to have Mr. Jeff Riemers lead the Salesmanship Merit Badge again this year. Mr. Riemers will teach the class in two sessions. Scouts must attend both sessions to earn the badge. First will be a classroom session on Saturday\, June 28 from 9:00 a.m to 10:30 a.m. at the Scout House. No uniform is required for the Saturday class. The second session is a field experience to sell red\, white and blue glow necklaces at Lacy Park on July 4. The glow necklace sales will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Lacy Park\, after the parade and before the fireworks. Class A uniforms are required. No sash please. We will meet right after the parade at the flag poles on the east side of Lacy Park. Then we will start selling those glow necklaces – and we will see who can sell the most. You can sign up for this merit badge at our June 2 troop meeting\, or you can email Mr. Shwery to get on the list.

DESCRIPTION:Hi\, I’m Daniel Lytle\, a sophomore at Loyola High School. My Eagle project will be at the Salvation Army’s Tabernacle Church in Pasadena. This Salvation Army facility provides church services\, an alcaholic rehabilitation program\, and numerous children’s recreational activities to the Pasadena community. Recently\, they’ve been having storage issues\, and that’s where we come in. \nFor my Eagle project\, we’ll be gutting a storage room at the Salvation Army in Pasadena\, repainting it\, and then building some custom shelving along the walls of the room. For this portion of the project\, scouts (and dads) with woodworking experience can expect to use some fun tools such as routers\, table saws\, etc. Then\, on the 30th and 31st of May and the 7th of June\, scouts with a little less experience are welcome to come and help us gut out the room\, repaint it\, and then install the new custom shelving. Please bring eye protection and gloves (especially if you’re coming to the first part of the project). I will provide lunch on the all-day work dates (see below). SUMMARY:Kern River Whitewater Campout - Click for Details
DESCRIPTION:The annual Kern River Rafting trip will be held on Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-26). We will arrive at the Sierra South rafting outfitters in Kernville early Saturday morning. We will board buses and ride up the river for a rafting run. We get back on the buses and run the river again. Then we have lunch and work on the whitewater merit badge. After that we travel up the river 30 min. to Camp Whitsett (a BSA camp in the Sequoia National Forest). We make camp and spend the afternoon working on scout skills. That evening we have a formal campfire at which we retire an American flag with an official ceremony. The next morning we go on a five mile hike and work on some more scout skills. We relax and enjoy the afternoon. A campfire that evening concludes the trip and we break camp early on Monday morning and head home. This is the first camping trip with our new scout patrols\, and a great way for them to start off with Troop 355.
