DESCRIPTION:We are heading to Inspiration Point.  We will hike the Lower Sam Merrill Trail to Echo Mountain and then the Castle Canyon Trail to Inspiration Point.  We will return from Inspiration Point via the Upper Sam Merrill Trail to the Lower Sam Merrill Trail.  Total hiking mileage is 10.2 miles with 2\,700 feet of elevation gain.   \nMeet at the Trailhead which is at the top of Lake Avenue at Alta Loma.  This is the same trailhead as for Echo Mountain. \nFull Philmont weight.  Try for 35 to 40 pounds.  Use you Philmont backpack and hiking boots. \nRemember to eat breakfast\, try for 500 calories and 1/2 liter of water.  \nIf you cannot attend this hike\, try it on a different schedule this weekend.

As unprecedented circumstances may arise\, the work involved includes but is not limited to sanding\, priming\, painting\, and removing the wheels on the bookshelves.  Any amount of help will be greatly appreciated.  On each day\, lunch will be provided in addition to snacks\, water\, and drinks.  Games (billiards\, ping-pong\, foosball\, etc.) will be available after the work days on Saturday and Sunday and includes the pool and jacuzzi.  I would appreciate if all volunteers would contact me as soon as possible via my email address (nstonn@gmail.com) or my mobile phone [(310) 990-0219].  All service hour credits instated by volunteers can be guaranteed to be good towards all Boy Scout rank advancements as well as the Citizenship in the Community Merit badge.  As the Citizenship in the Community Merit badge requires 8 hours of service and volunteers have 3 days to work\, a comfortable opportunity to finish the badge’s service hours requirement is available. Games (billiards\, ping-pong\, foosball\, etc.) will be available after the work days on Saturday and Sunday and includes the pool and jacuzzi. All service hour credits instated by volunteers can be guaranteed to be good towards all Boy Scout rank advancements as well as the Citizenship in the Community Merit badge.  As the Citizenship in the Community Merit badge requires 8 hours of service and volunteers have 3 days to work\, a comfortable opportunity to finish the badge’s service hours requirement is available. I will be refinishing teak wood tables and chairs at the Huntington Memorial Hosptial.  It is a great cause providing a nice place for patients and vistors to sit and relax.   \nWe will begin cleaning patio furniture on Saturday June 30th\, from 9:00am until 3:00pm. Lunch will be served around noon and snacks and drinks will be provided.  We will also be working on Sunday\, July 1st from 12:00pm to 3:00 pm\, and Saturday July 7\, from 10:00am to 1:00pm and Sunday July 8 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm\, if necessary. \nAll ages of scouts are welcome and the work will not be difficult.  If you are a new scout\, come see what an Eagle Project is all about.  If you need community service hours for scouts or school\, you can get them here. DESCRIPTION:Salesmanship Merit Badge \nWe are fortunate to have Mr. Jeff Riemers lead the Salesmanship Merit Badge again this year.  Mr. Riemers will teach the class in two sessions.  Scouts must attend both sessions to earn the badge.  First\, will be a classroom session on Saturday\, June 30 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Scout House.  No uniform is required for the Saturday class.  The second session is a field experience to sell red\, white and blue glow necklaces at Lacy Park.  The glow necklace sales will be from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM in Lacy Park before the fireworks.  Class A uniform is required.  No sash please.  Our meeting location for the glow necklace sales will be the flag poles on the east side of Lacy Park.  If you have already RSVP’d\, there is no need to reply to this message.  Mr. Riemers will send final instructions later.

DESCRIPTION:Independence Day Parade \nEver want to be in a parade?  Well\, now is your chance.  Troop 355 has the honor of participating in the San Marino Independence Day Parade.  Attached is the information flyer.  We meet at the Valero Gas Station on the corner of Huntington\, Monterey and Sierra Madre.  Please arrive by 3:15 PM.  The Parade begins earlier this year at 3:45.  Wear Class A uniform without sash.  We will finish the Parade by about 5:30 PM and meet parents at the flag pole.  Scouts will receive credit for two service hours.  Parent and friends will take lots of photos.  \nThis year\, wrist bands are required for all entrants to the celebration at Lacy Park.  The City of San Marino has graciously provided Troop 355 with free wrist bands for Scouts selling glow necklaces or appearing in the Parade.  Parents and siblings should get their own wrist bands through the San Marino Recreation Department.
