This is a classic Boy Scout backpacking trip. This is a good tune-up for people going to Philmont this year. \nMEET: Scout House 8:00 A.M. March 10 to disperse crew gear and food. Arrange your own carpools to Chantry Flat. We will return to Chantry Flat Sunday by noon. \nDIFFICULTY: This is an intermediate backpacking trip. The hike is 3.7 miles on the Gabrielino trail with 1200 feet of elevation gain. A beginner can handle this hike if he is physically fit. \nAVAILABILITY: The trip limit is 24. This is a classic Boy Scout backpacking trip. This is a good tune-up for people going to Philmont this year. \nMEET: Scout House 8:00 A.M. March 10 to disperse crew gear and food. Arrange your own carpools to Chantry Flat. We will return to Chantry Flat Sunday by noon. \nDIFFICULTY: This is an intermediate backpacking trip. The hike is 3.7 miles on the Gabrielino trail with 1200 feet of elevation gain. A beginner can handle this hike if he is physically fit. \nAVAILABILITY: The trip limit is 24. Of course always bring your rain gear! BE PREPARED. A number of first time backpackers brought car camping tents to our Cooper Canyon trip. Car camping tents are too heavy for this backpack trip.
