SUMMARY:Kern River Whitewater Campout
DESCRIPTION:The annual Kern River Rafting trip will be held on Memorial Day Weekend (May 29-31). We will arrive at the Sierra South rafting outfitters in Kernville early Saturday morning. We will board buses and ride up the river for a rafting run. We get back on the buses and run the river again. Then we have lunch and work on the whitewater merit badge. After that we travel up the river 30 min. to Camp Whitsett (a BSA camp in the Sequoia National Forest). We make camp and spend the afternoon working on scout skills. That evening we have a formal campfire at which we retire an American flag with an official ceremony. The next morning we go on a five mile hike and work on some more scout skills. We relax and enjoy the afternoon. A campfire that evening concludes the trip and we break camp early on Monday morning and head home.
