DESCRIPTION:Scouts should request their Board of Review from the Troop Board of Review Chairman (currently Mrs. Dietzel).  It is imperative that the scout\, and not the parents\, request the Board of Review.  He should call no later than seven days in advance of the Board of Review session calendared to allow the Board of Review Chairman to arrange for adult leaders.  During the Board of Review\, the scout will meet with 2 or 3 adult leaders who will ask him questions regarding his scouting skills.  He will be asked to demonstrate his knots\, recite the Scout Oath and Scout Outdoor Code.  The scout will be asked questions concerning all areas of pertaining to his rank advancement request and all previous ranks.   \nIf a scout has any questions regarding the advancement process\, or if he needs any further assistance in aiding him along the way\, please do not hesitate to call the Scout Master or any of the Assistant Scout Masters at any time. \nBoards of review are conducted at our Scout house

DESCRIPTION:The annual Kern River Rafting trip will be held on Memorial Day Weekend (May 29-31).  We will arrive at the Sierra South rafting outfitters in Kernville early Saturday morning.  We will board buses and ride up the river for a rafting run.  We get back on the buses and run the river again.  Then we have lunch and work on the whitewater merit badge.  After that we travel up the river 30 min. to Camp Whitsett (a BSA camp in the Sequoia National Forest).  We make camp and spend the afternoon working on scout skills.  That evening we have a formal campfire at which we retire an American flag with an official ceremony.  The next morning we go on a five mile hike and work on some more scout skills.  We relax and enjoy the afternoon.  A campfire that evening concludes the trip and we break camp early on Monday morning and head home.

SUMMARY:Tenderfoot Physical Fitness Session #1
DESCRIPTION:The Tenderfoot physical fitness requirement has always been a stumbling block on the way to Tenderfoot. It requires a 30 days interval between part one and part two.  Do your best to make this event so we can get this done before Camp Cherry Valley.  For those who can’t make session 1\, we will do another session 1 while the first group does session 2 on June 24th. We will meet on Thurday night May 20 at the Scout House at 6:30\, walk into lacy park\, complete the physical requirements (push ups\, sit ups\, long jump\, chin ups\, and a 1/4 mile run) and sign the handbooks.  We should be done by 6:45.Notes:Be on time we wont wait for long!Wear clothes and shoes for running.Do not wear your scout uniform!Bring your Scout Handbook! Thats where we will record your acheivement.Instructor Nathaniel Rolfe and I will supervise the event.

SUMMARY:Boards of Review
DESCRIPTION:Scouts should request their Board of Review from the Troop Board of Review Chairman (currently Mrs. Dietzel).  It is imperative that the scout\, and not the parents\, request the Board of Review.  He should call no later than seven days in advance of the Board of Review session calendared to allow the Board of Review Chairman to arrange for adult leaders.  During the Board of Review\, the scout will meet with 2 or 3 adult leaders who will ask him questions regarding his scouting skills.  He will be asked to demonstrate his knots\, recite the Scout Oath and Scout Outdoor Code.  The scout will be asked questions concerning all areas of pertaining to his rank advancement request and all previous ranks.   \nIf a scout has any questions regarding the advancement process\, or if he needs any further assistance in aiding him along the way\, please do not hesitate to call the Scout Master or any of the Assistant Scout Masters at any time. \nBoards of review are conducted at our Scout house

DESCRIPTION:Backpacking\, Spruce Grove\, Click for more infoTROOP 355 SPRUCE GROVE BACKPACKING TRIP  \nWHEN: Saturday May 1st\, Sunday May 2nd \nWHERE: Spruce Grove Camp\, Big Santa Anita Canyon.We will leave on Saturday from Chantry Flat.  \nMEET: Scout House 8:00 A.M. Saturday May 1st to disperse crew gear and food. Arrange your own carpools to Chantry Flat. We will return to Chantry Flat Sunday morning at 10:00 A.M. \nDIFFICULTY: This is a moderate hike. 3.7 miles on the Gabrielino trail with 1200 feet of elevation gain. A beginner can handle this hike if he is physically fit.  \nAVAILABILITY: The trip limit is 24. If you have signed up and cannot go\, please e-mail Dr.Snaer (snaer@earthlink.net) so that we can open your spot up to another scout! If you wish to sign up\, e-mail Dr. Snaer and get on the list. \nCOST: $10 per person. Deadline to confirm your spot is Monday night\, April 26th.
