DESCRIPTION:My upcoming Eagle Project is scheduled for Tuesday August 21st and Wednesday August 22nd and will benefit Chandler School.  It is going to be a lot of fun and I hope you are able to volunteer to help! The project will include a Tree Survey that will entail identifying\, assessing\, measuring\, tagging\, and cataloging in a database all of the trees on the Chandler School campus. In addition\, we will construct a tree nursery that will house native tree saplings so that these trees can be replanted on site when needed.  We will be working from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day and I would appreciate any help\, even if just for a couple of hours.  We will provide lunch and plenty of snacks and beverages.  If you are able to join us\, please plan to wear sturdy shoes/boots and clothing that is OK if you get dirty — and please bring work gloves if you have them (no problem if you don’t\, since not all jobs require them).  We especially need some older scouts to help out with certain aspects of the survey.  We will plan to meet in Johnson Courtyard\, which is right near the front entrance of Chandler School located at 1005 Armada Drive\, Pasadena\, CA\, 91103. SUMMARY:Philmont Crews Advanced Backpack Trip - Jennie Lakes Loop
DESCRIPTION:WHEN:  Monday\, July 30 to Wednesday\, August 1\, 2018.  This will be a chance for our Philmont crews to do an advanced backpack trip following the cancellation of this summer’s Philmont programs. \nWHERE:  This is a three day\, two night backpack trip.  We will complete the classic Jennie Lakes Loop.  From the trailhead at Big Meadows in the Sequoia National Forest\, we will hike about 4 miles to Weaver Lake on Monday afternoon.  On Tuesday we will hike about 10 miles\, over JO Pass (9444’) and on to Jennie Lake.  On Wednesday we will complete the loop and hike 6.5 miles back to Big Meadows.  \nDIFFICULTY:  The hike is about 21 miles total.  We will gain over 3000 feet of elevation\, and will camp both nights at approximately 9000 feet.  \nCOST:  $20 per person.  Deadline to confirm your spot is Monday night\, July 23.  Deliver a check to Kelly Moffat (you can bring one to the Scout House when we meet). \nMEET:  At Scout House at 7:00 AM on Monday\, July 30.  We will divide troop gear and food then depart for the trailhead.  The trip to the trailhead is about 4 hours. We should complete the hike by midday Wednesday\, and be home by 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. \nMEALS:  We will provide Philmont-style dinners for Monday and Tuesday evening.  Bring your own trail breakfasts for Tuesday and Wednesday\, and your own trail lunch for Tuesday.  We will stop for lunch on Monday before we get to the trailhead\, and we should be back to the trailhead on Wednesday in time to have lunch on the way home.  Further information will be provided as we get closer to the trip.

SUMMARY:Philmont Crews Advanced Backpack Trip - Jennie Lakes Loop
DESCRIPTION:WHEN:  Monday\, July 30 to Wednesday\, August 1\, 2018.  This will be a chance for our Philmont crews to do an advanced backpack trip following the cancellation of this summer’s Philmont programs. \nWHERE:  This is a three day\, two night backpack trip.  We will complete the classic Jennie Lakes Loop.  From the trailhead at Big Meadows in the Sequoia National Forest\, we will hike about 4 miles to Weaver Lake on Monday afternoon.  On Tuesday we will hike about 10 miles\, over JO Pass (9444’) and on to Jennie Lake.  On Wednesday we will complete the loop and hike 6.5 miles back to Big Meadows.  \nDIFFICULTY:  The hike is about 21 miles total.  We will gain over 3000 feet of elevation\, and will camp both nights at approximately 9000 feet.  \nCOST:  $20 per person.  Deadline to confirm your spot is Monday night\, July 23.  Deliver a check to Kelly Moffat (you can bring one to the Scout House when we meet). \nMEET:  At Scout House at 7:00 AM on Monday\, July 30.  We will divide troop gear and food then depart for the trailhead.  The trip to the trailhead is about 4 hours. We should complete the hike by midday Wednesday\, and be home by 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. \nMEALS:  We will provide Philmont-style dinners for Monday and Tuesday evening.  Bring your own trail breakfasts for Tuesday and Wednesday\, and your own trail lunch for Tuesday.  We will stop for lunch on Monday before we get to the trailhead\, and we should be back to the trailhead on Wednesday in time to have lunch on the way home.  Further information will be provided as we get closer to the trip.
