SUMMARY:Thomas Ary's Eagle ProjectSan Marino Community ChurchClick for Details
DESCRIPTION:Dear Troop 355\,My name is Thomas Ary and I will be a senior at San Marino High School in the fall. I am currently a Life Scout with troop 355 and will be starting my Eagle Project on Saturday\, July 8th and will maybe continue until July 9th. For my Eagle Project I will be stripping\, re-finishing\, and painting 5 toy boxes for the Nursery School within San Marino Community Church. The project will be in two stages; The first stage\, we will strip all the varnish and paint completely off all of the 5 boxes with sand paper. Two of the boxes are damaged and need to be repaired. Using furniture clamps and wood glue\, we will repair the damaged area. When the wood glue dries\, stage two will begin. Three of the four boxes are inside the building and will be stained with varnish. The remaining two boxes are outside and will be painted with two coats of red paint. The project is from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM\, and what doesn’t get completed\, the project will continue the following day until finished. Water and snacks will be provided as well as pizza for lunch. Bring clothes you don’t mind getting paint on\, everything else will be provided. If you can only help for a few hours\, that’s great. Hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Tenderfoot Physical Fitness Session #2Click for Details
DESCRIPTION:The Tenderfoot physical fitness requirement has always been a stumbling block on the way to Tenderfoot. It requires a 30 day interval between part one and part two. Do your best to make this event so we can get this done before Camp Cherry Valley. Scouts who attended session #1 in May can complete the physical fitness requirement by attending session #2 on June 12. Scouts who missed the May session should definitely make the June session\, they can then complete the physical fitness requirement at session #3 in July. \nWe will meet on Monday July 12 at the Scout House at 6:00\, walk into Lacy Park\, complete the physical requirements (push ups\, sit ups\, stretching and running) and sign the handbooks. We should be done by 6:45.Notes: Please arrive on time.Wear clothes and shoes for running.Do not wear your scout uniform!Bring your Scout Handbook! Thats where we will record your achievements.

In case you are wondering what hydroponics is\, here is a link which explains everything: http://www.growthtechnology.com/growtorial/what-is-hydroponic-growing/ \nThe purpose of my project will be to not only provide vegetables to the club and a local food pantry\, but also to inspire a sense of community service and self-sustainment in the youth at the club. \nWhat to bring: Power tools (if you have any)\, work clothes\, work gloves\, and closed toed shoes. \nThis is a great opportunity to gain service hours (for both rank advancements and for school requirements) and to learn about sustainable methods of growing food. \nIf you plan on participating\, please contact me in advance so I can plan accordingly. \nThank you for your time and I look forward to seeing you there! Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. \nSincerely\, \n Nick Yeh \n nicolas.yeh007@gmail.com \n (626) 898-2769

SUMMARY:Kern River Whitewater CampoutClick for Details
DESCRIPTION:The annual Kern River Rafting trip will be held on Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-29). We will arrive at the Sierra South rafting outfitters in Kernville early Saturday morning. We will board buses and ride up the river for a rafting run. We get back on the buses and run the river again. Then we have lunch and work on the whitewater merit badge. After that we travel up the river 30 min. to Camp Whitsett (a BSA camp in the Sequoia National Forest). We make camp and spend the afternoon working on scout skills. That evening we have a formal campfire at which we retire an American flag with an official ceremony. The next morning we go on a five mile hike and work on some more scout skills. We relax and enjoy the afternoon. A campfire that evening concludes the trip and we break camp early on Monday morning and head home. This is the first camping trip with our new scout patrols\, and a great way for them to start off with Troop 355.
