Whitney – the highest mountain in the lower 48 states\, at 14\,495 feet above sea level. This is an exceptionally challenging hike – 22 miles and over 6\,000 feet of elevation gain. We will camp near the trailhead on Saturday night\, then make the summit attempt on Sunday. We will either camp or stay in Lone Pine on Sunday night\, then return home on Monday. \nAs safety will be our first priority\, this hike will be limited to our most active and experienced hikers. We anticipate that hikers will need to have completed a Philmont trek with the troop in order to get on the roster for this trip. Whitney – the highest mountain in the lower 48 states\, at 14\,495 feet above sea level. This is an exceptionally challenging hike – 22 miles and over 6\,000 feet of elevation gain. We will camp near the trailhead on Saturday night\, then make the summit attempt on Sunday. We will either camp or stay in Lone Pine on Sunday night\, then return home on Monday. \nAs safety will be our first priority\, this hike will be limited to our most active and experienced hikers. We anticipate that hikers will need to have completed a Philmont trek with the troop in order to get on the roster for this trip. If you are interested\, please contact Mr. Dawes to be placed on an interest list. We will fill the roster starting with our most experienced hikers.
